Jess’s horror flick from last year, Piranha 3d is up for Teen Choice Awards this year! The movie’s been nominated in the Choice Movie: Horror category. Register and vote daily for it daily at the Teen Choice Awards site.

Sad news for fans of Vanessa, it’s been confirmed by Michael Ausiello of TVLine that Jess, along with cast member Taylor Momsen, will not be returning to Gossip Girl next season as regulars.

TVLine has learned exclusively that Gossip Girl is parting ways with Taylor Momsen (Jenny) and Jessica Szohr (Vanessa).

A source close to the show confirms that the two actresses will not be returning as series regulars for the CW soap’s upcoming fifth season, but added that both have been invited back on a guest star basis.

The insider also confirms that GG‘s core five — Blake Lively (Serena), Leighton Meester (Blair) Penn Badgley (Dan), Ed Westwick (Chuck) and Chace Crawford (Nate) — will all be back in the fall. Additionally, Kaylee DeFer — who joined the cast this spring as Serena’s rabble-rousing cousin Charlie — has been promoted to series regular status.

The departures of Momsen and Szohr hardly come as a complete surprise. Momsen — who has made no secret of her desire to make music her primary focus — has appeared in only a handful of episodes this season. Similarly, Szohr’s alter ego has been given little to do save for a little eavesdropping and meddling here and there. What’s more, Vanessa recently revealed that she was leaving town to study abroad.

While this chapter of Jess’s life seems to have closed for now, the great news is she still has a lot of projects lined up over the next year, including her yet-to-be released movies, including “Love, Wedding, Marriage”, “Hirokin” and “I Don’t Know How She Does It” amongst many others. I wish her the best of luck in her movie career and hopefully we’ll continue to see lots more of her!

I’m so happy for her, she’s really racking up the roles. Thanks to the ladies on Fanforum for the heads’ up, Jess has been cast as the female lead in the teen comedy ‘Owned‘. No word yet on her co-stars/release date.

“Gossip Girl” star Jessica Szohr will play the female lead in the teen comedy “Owned,” produced by Radar Pictures and Dobre Films.

J.B. Rogers, who directed “American Pie 2″ and was a co-producer on “Hall Pass,” will helm from Jim Freeman’s script. Producing are Ted Field and Amy Halvorsen through Radar Pictures and Christopher D’Elia and Michael Klein through Dobre Films.

Story centers on a new girl in high school who tries to blackmail her nerdy neighbor with a compromising videotape, only to have him wind up the most popular kid in school.

Szohr’s credits include “Piranha 3D” and “Fired Up.” She’s repped by ICM and Luber Roklin Entertainment. Rogers is repped at ICM and Principal Entertainment.

New statistics claim that 93 percent of women believe their armpits are unattractive. A new roll-on deodorant from Dove includes moisturizers that will supposedly improve the appearance of underarm skin. Ad campaigns for the product will feature Jessica Szohr.
